Welcome to 2022!
The Gregorian calendar year has ticked over once more; however the “new” year intention setting energetics may not hit us until the 2nd/3rd when the new moon in Capricorn is upon us. By the 6th we will be feeling more energized to take forward action and our inner achiever kicks in!
The month of January takes us on an archetypal journey exploring Capricornian themes of perseverance, aspiration, precision, realism and then Aquarian themes of anticipation and sensitivity.
As we enter into the year 2022, this also marks us with the numerology energy of the number 6 - symbol of harmony and flow and domestic rebalancing and stability.
With Venus retrograde all month, we may experience a re-evaluation and transformation of our values, which ties in beautifully with the new year energy.
Work slowly but surely towards further clarity in love and life, taking inspired action towards setting your energy right from a grounded, realistic perspective over the course of the month.
Mercury retrograde mid-month will also assist with revising communications around how you see yourself and humanity on a whole, moving forward. What does this “new human” version of yourself look like?

We collectively have access to journey through the shadow of struggle to honour via perseverance. The entry into the new year could feel like we have to push out of the birth canal - and this can be uncomfortable - but we don’t have to struggle to do it. Perhaps a chance to surrender to the changes we are being asked to make.

The sun will be illuminating aspects of ourselves that are ambitious, with root chakra pressure to “do” which comes through us like a pulse of energy through our body. This is the perfect time to plan for the year ahead. It’s supported by the waxing moon which is building up it’s energy and providing us with more energy to do things on our list. We move through the shadow of greed into ascension via aspiration. This transit will be perfect to take a look at who we aspire to be and what we need to do in order to embody that version of ourselves.

In comes the collective internal questioning - asking the big “whys” of life. This transit will be particularly mentally stimulating, possibly quite heavy, with the opportunity to ask yourself and others some bigger life questions and perhaps find some answers, too. This transit can inspire you to learn, grow and deepen your connection with the divine. We move from the gene key shadow of psychosis to sanctity via inspiration.

SUN IN GATE 60 FROM 17TH - 22ND JAN:
Gate of Acceptance and archetype of the Magician.
This transit could actually feel more like the new year energy we desire - again with root chakra pressure to “start” kicking in over the course of this transit. However, with the shadow of limitation in the mix - we could also see clearly what limits us from starting, changing, and taking new directions right now, too. The key to moving past the limitations is to accept them.
It may be beneficial to write down what our perceived or real limitations are that are holding us back, and contemplate them more deeply - perhaps seeing what realistic pathway is being revealed. We move from the gene key shadow of limitation to justice via the gift of realism. It’s a transformative and magical transit if you allow it to be. What is simply a distraction? What structures need to be burnt away or implemented to feel more supported and secure right now to move forward in life?
Fun fact - this is my sun sign gate and archetype - I know this energy well and it’s apart of my life's work to learn and teach it. It is why I love certain frameworks and structures like astrology / human design / gene keys to create my magic from. It’s also why i’m really great at starting things and not finishing them! Ha!

Gate of Contraction and archetype of the Originator
This transit will feel like a huge “pull” back into yourself, and almost like this whole month has felt like being on and off and on and off again. It’s been a real washing machine of energy and this one is the big sacred pull back, gearing up for the Lunar new year, Lammas in the Southern Hemisphere and Imbolc in the Northern Hemisphere on Feb 2 - which I personally feel more connected to as a “new” chapter.
Hopefully how you have spent most of January it has felt like a month of preparation - of being on and off both in equal parts, nourishing and nurturing new seeds and filled with inspired action. We move through the GK shadow of fantasy to emanation via the gift of anticipation during this transit - things could feel extra spacey or dreamy, hyperactive or unsettled. Breathe. Gate of Wanting and the archetype of the Eutterian
As we close out the calendar month, and are already in the Aquarius sun season energy - we turn to our futures with this transit. We may feel extra social or aching for affection, connection and community. It illuminates to us where we are co-dependent and needy, and what we want and need right now. We are moving through the GK shadow of co-dependence to sacrifice via the gift of sensitivity. This gate to me is super important.
We have a huge spotlight on the places where we are too reliant on the other (partners, parents, governments, corporations) to fulfil our needs and this transit is a great opportunity to see where we can tweak things to reconnect us to our natural selves. Perhaps a perspective shift will occur regarding how you can better connect to humanity, nature and yourself this transit. Physical touch, intimacy and connection will be collectively desired over this period. Permission to ask for extra hugs! Be weary of over-sensitive reactions from yourself and others. Be kind to yourself.

Venus retrograde in Capricorn will also have us all re-evaluating our love lives, careers and ways in which we feel valued and what we value individually. This is the perfect month to do some serious revision in life and get super clear on what you value and make any tweaks to your lifestyle, relationships and spending habits to reflect them. Exes might spiral back, foundations may crumble and ask to be rebuilt.
