The crab is the ultimate symbol for putting on a tough exterior, wearing an emotional suit of armour, and even for defensive and aggressive behaviour.
The crab teaches us that while resilience is essential to thrive emotionally, physically and mentally, it’s equally important to honour our soft, malleable, delicate and precious inner and outer being, too.
Their ability to walk sideways makes it easy for them to avoid oncoming threats and dodge obstacles with ease. Crabs communicate with each other using waving and drumming motions with their pincers. They trust in these unique abilities to help them to manoeuvre through life’s obstacles and stay in connection with one another. A true teacher of trusting that others are out there for support, but only you can truly help yourself move through the challenges and constant change in our lives.
Crabs remind us of the importance of protecting our whole selves, but also to remind us that in order to survive and thrive we often have to trust in the fact that although we must often move from one place to another - physically, emotionally or mentally, in doing so, we are on a frequency that is helping us to realise that we have outgrown what has become very familiar to us, and to trust that in moving on, whichever direction we go, we will learn and grow as we move forward.
Trusting in the fact that we will be protected and supported wherever we choose to move, allows for us to become the best possible version of ourselves, always.
