Native to Australia and New Guinea, Kookaburras delight us with their distinct ‘laughing’ call, reminding us to stop taking ourselves so seriously and to look on the bright side of life. They also encourage us to use laughter as a form of healing and moving through pain and trauma.

Kookaburra families stick together; even when the young birds mature, they choose to stay with their parents to help look after their younger siblings.

In First Nation legends, the Kookaburra’s morning chorus was the signal for the sky people to light the great fire that illuminates and warms the earth each day. We can’t help but feel a sense of amusement in ourselves when we hear a chorus of kookaburras at sunrise and sunset.

They say that ‘laughter is the best medicine,’ and we can often feel how much this sings true in our own lives. Whenever we experience hardships or serious circumstances, we intuitively feel called to find the lighter side of things to allow us to enter back into a more balanced state. Laughter can bring us back into harmony with ourselves, and places importance on seeking joy and community to get us through.

If we are feeling particularly heavy or lonely, we can listen for the Kookaburra’s natural brand of ‘medicine’ - humour - to guide us through.

If Kookaburra has entered your field recently, the key questions to ask yourself what it means specific to you are:

1. What was I doing / thinking / feeling at the time of the encounter?

2. How did seeing this messenger make me feel?

3. What was the animal doing and what was significant about it specifically?

4. Can you see how any of these things relate to the meaning above?

What is your own mythic tale you can weave to get your own beautiful message from this guide?

Journal and contemplate with these prompts to uncover your own personalised meaning and symbolism.

SIZING GUIDE

Our rings come in 3 size options - the mandala rings come with open backs which hug the finger tightly and taper in at the back for comfort on the finger and allow it to bend with ease.

WILDER is proud to say it is now more size inclusive, offering a third sizing option in XL which cover USA size 9-11.

SMALL = USA 5-7

M-L = USA 7-9

XL = USA 9-11

Don't know your size?

Here are a few options to work it out if you are unsure.

I always suggest to go the bigger size if you are on the "cusp" of a size change over in our designs.

NECKLACES

Our necklaces come in 2 lengths - 16 inch and 18 inch.

These lengths sit differently on everyone's neck - but the below guide shows you a general length difference

We encourage for layered looks to purchase one 16" for small bead designs and one 18" for pendant designs

Here is Sarah wearing the two necklaces layered :)
