The seahorse is slow, vulnerable and opportunistic sea creature - much like us when when it comes to our dealings with love in our life.
Although not generally mates for life, the male and females spend a huge amount of time getting to know each other’s rhythms before mating, something that involves swimming side by side, holding tails and wheeling around in unison together. They perform this courtship dance that can last several hours before they finally mate.
The males are responsible for fertilising and protecting the eggs in his pouch before releasing the young out to fend for themselves in the wild ocean.
Seahorses need to stay in the zones of water that are slow-moving or still, because their tiny fins are their only tool for propulsion, they will become exhausted if they’re swept into the strong, fast-moving waves. When they are steady, in their preferred environment they will patiently wait for their prey to come within striking range.
Finding true love is a game of patience, trust and vulnerability. These beautiful little water horses are the slowest moving fish in the world, teaching us that love can come in many forms - and when we have the right demeanour and energy, we attract what it is we desire.
Love is often not about being swept off our feet, but equally about patience, understanding and compromise.
