Frogs reside near and in water and feed on mostly aquatic animals and insects. They are nocturnal, hiding to keep cool during the day and come out in the early evening to call and hunt. Frogs have strong hind legs that propel them forward in large jumping motion which helps them to escape from prey. True masters of disguise, frogs are well camouflaged in their home environments and can often be mistaken for leaves and rocks.
Frogs need a moist environment to thrive, Their skin exudes a special moisture solution to prevent evaporation in dry areas. The resourceful frog also makes use of rain and dew to keep from drying out, meaning that it can wander further from its water source without fear. Their unique skin is often vulnerable and toxic, a sign of how volatile often our natural state can be and of how often we must nurture it with emotional healing practices.
