CHAMELEON // Animal Messenger

Chameleons are unique and curious creatures.
With their independently mobile eyes they can achieve full 360-degree vision, keeping track of everything happening around them without moving or exerting much energy. Their feet are a distinct shape, allowing them to have a firm grip on the branches they feed and live on. Chameleons also have a highly evolved tongue that extrudes long distances so that they can capture insects with ease while preserving energy.
The chameleon guides us to use our energy and internal resources wisely to prevent wastage, depletion and openness to threats. They show us the importance of energy balance and protection and knowing the right times to retreat and then when to emerge.
Chameleons are most well known for their iconic, colourful bodies and ability to change colour to suit their needs. A chameleon will use a colour change to communicate and send signals to other chameleons and well as to camouflage into its environment to avoid detection from predators. We can see how powerful this gift is in that they really can draw from their energy sources within to affect not only how they physically appear, but also how others then react to that.
They teach us that we have such a great energy body too, which we should draw from in order to achieve desired outcomes within our environment and those we encounter.
If Chameleon has entered your field recently, the key questions to ask yourself what it means specific to you are:
1. What was I doing / thinking / feeling at the time of the encounter?
2. How did seeing this messenger make me feel?
3. What was the animal doing and what was significant about it specifically?
4. Can you see how any of these things relate to the meaning above?
What is your own mythic tale you can weave to get your own beautiful message from this guide?
Journal and contemplate with these prompts to uncover your own personalised meaning and symbolism.
